CEA rejects 8 power project proposals for lack of tie-upsSaturday, April 27, 2002
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has returned 8 power project proposals to their respective promoters for non tie-up of essential inputs/ clearances. However, the CEA has made it clear that these projects could be considered for techno-economic clearance (TEC) after tying up for essential inputs/ clearances.
The 8 gas-based power projects, with a total capacity of 2,576.7 MW, were submitted for CEA clearance during April 1999 and September 2001. The reasons for rejecting the project proposals are listed below:
Belgaum Cost= 1659 Cr Capacity= 500 MW
LNG-based CCPPWesco Power Generation
Karnataka
Reason For rejection by CEA
Lack of LNG tie up, water availability from state and centre, approval from ministry of environment and forest, finalisation of EPC contractor.
Nanjangud CCPP Cost= 96.7 Cr Capacity=340 MW
IPS Power Co.
Karnataka
Reason For rejection by CEA
Non-availability of approval for water availability involving Cauvery inter-state aspects and other issues related to complete capital cost.
Hassan napththa-based CCPP Cost= 200 Cr Capacity=715 MW
Hassan Power Supply Co.
Karnataka
Reason For rejection by CEA
Outstanding issues such as revised water scheme, cost estimates and use of naphtha have to be sorted out with the Karnataka.
Bidadi CCPP Cost= 2100 Cr Capacity=662 MW
KPC Bidadi Power Corpn.
Karnataka
Reason For rejection by CEA
Lack of tie up for gas linkage, fuel transportation, water availability, NOC from Airports Authority of India, approvals from state pollution control board and ministry of forests.

IT Park for Belgaum
CM to lay stone for IT Park on February 23Saturday January 20 2007 12:32 IST
BELGAUM: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will lay the foundation stone for the IT Park at Waghavade village, near here on February 23. The government has planned to establish IT park in 100 acres of land in the village.The government has plans to establish a Javali Park in the same village. The Javali Park will come up on 69 acres of land.A preliminary meeting was held here on Friday in which the details about IT Investors Meet were discussed. The IT investors meet will be inaugurated by Chief Minister on February 23. Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and District Minister Shashikant Naik will participate in the IT Investors Meet.The preliminary meeting was presided over by Amitha Prasad, the Regional Commissioner. She said that about 1,000 IT investors would attend the Meet. She urged the officials to make the Meet a success.The Government has sanctioned Rs 25 lakh for the IT Investors Meet. The Meet will be held at Viveswaraya Technological University, Mache, near Belgaum.Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shalini Rajneesh, Superintendent of Police Hemanth Nimbalkar were present in the meeting.
